Holiday of the Week: Guizhou's Festivals, Tribes & Villages

Company Name: Bamboo Travel

Name of trip: Guizhou's Festivals, Tribes & Villages

Destination: China

Length of trip: 15 days

Trip Highlights:

This small group tour takes you off-the-beaten-track in Guizhou Province, one of China’s most remote regions, where cultural traditions remain central to daily life. This one-off departure on 3rd February coincides with three authentic Lunar New Year festivals, including the Tiaochuacha Festival held by the Longhorn Miao in the mountainous village of Longga and the dramatic Fire Dragon Festival, during which a procession of firework-laden dragons light up the sky. Much of the music is led by the lusheng, a traditional musical instrument with multiple bamboo pipes used at festivals and other special occasions, each fitted with a free reed; which are then fitted into a long blowing tube made of hardwood. Guizhou is one of China’s most culturally and scenically diverse provinces and home to ancient water towns, traditional villages, a section of the Great Wall, stunning karst scenery and waterfalls.

Cost of trip: £2,995 per person based on a two sharing a Double or Twin Room
