Papua New Guinea is fast gaining a reputation as a country offering visitors a wealth of diverse experiences.  From coastal waters, teaming with myriad schools of tropical fish and endless virgin coral for the diver to explore, add vast jungles humming with the chants of over 700 different types of exotic birds, including 38 species of  ‘Birds of Paradise’. The trekking enthusiast will find a ‘well trodden path,’ mountain climbing and bushwalking, think Kokoda Trail for the ultra fit or a Mini Kokoda experience for those who enjoy a lesser challenge. PNG is home to 1,000 tribes who between them speak more than 800 distinct languages and support an incredibly rich and fascinating culture.
Travellers can see for themselves the many different aspects of this exceptional ethnicity at the various festivals held throughout the country. This is also where to find a large percentage of all the world’s known orchid species; an estimated 3,200 out of a total of 30,000.  Recently Bulbophyllum Nocturnum, the world’s only known night flowering orchid was discovered on New Britain Island.
