Exhibitors in Focus: Explore

How did your company start out?

At Explore we've run small group adventure holidays since 1981. We are passionate about what we do – and love to travel. The founder directors ran overland trips through Asia, Africa and the Americas in the 1960s and 70s prior to setting up the company, and were always determined that the spirit of adventure, which was such an important part of those early pioneering days, should continue to play a key role as part of the driving ethos of Explore.
Now in our 35th year, we are still as passionate about what we do and our experience and knowledge makes us one of the most trusted tour operators in the UK.
Our wide range of activities and experiences, award winning Explore leaders, commitment to responsible travel and a pinch of Explore spirit, keeps our customers coming back year after year.
At Explore we're passionate about travel; we really do live and breathe adventure.  When we're not in the office talking about travel, the majority of us can be found out and about exploring the world. Whether we venture out on business, researching new destinations for Explore trips or travelling in our spare time - we can't help but feed our desire to see more of the world.
We believe that our team of adventure travel experts are the best in the business. We want to share some of our passion for adventure travel with you to let you know the destinations that we have fallen in love with, and where you are likely to see us next.

What trips do you offer?

We currently have over 500 trips available in over 120 countries, offering a choice that is second to none.

  • Small group trips

For more than 30 years we have been exploring the world in small groups, usually with around 14 to 16 people. Travelling on a small group holiday is more flexible and allows us to be less conspicuous: we travel and eat with the local people, stay in smaller, family-run hotels and visit places inaccessible to larger groups. In a small group it’s much easier to get off the beaten track, meet the people and experience authentic local life. Not only does this minimise our impact on the environment, it also makes for a better, more inspiring experience.
Solo travellers, couples and friends travelling together – all are welcome and the mix is what makes the groups work so well.

  • Private departures

Our Private Departures are designed for people who prefer the flexibility of travelling independently. Based on the same itinerary as the small group trip, Private Departures provide the freedom to choose your own departure date and simply enjoy the adventure with your family, your partner or your friends.

  • Tailormade Trips

An Explore Tailormade holiday offers you the freedom to create the adventures of your dreams. Starting from scratch, you can build your perfect itinerary based around where you want to go and what you want to do, with the help of our dedicated team of specialists.

  • Centre based

Our centre based adventures are ideal for exploring one region in more depth. On these trips we carefully research a region and find a hotel, guesthouse or other accommodation to use as a base for the duration of the holiday. We then organise walks and other activities from the base, allowing you to discover all the region has to offer while returning to your comfortable accommodation at the end of each day.

  • Self-guided

Our range of self-guided cycling and walking trips are designed to ensure maximum flexibility. Depart on any day of the week and cycle or walk at your own pace making as many stops along the way as you like immersing yourself in local life, meet local people, stop for refreshments, enjoy local hospitality and learn about local history. Our itineraries are designed with flexibility and comfort in mind.
